Why would someone, supposedly so intelligent, generalize family, community, and society. I wish her well. She seems angry, and resentful. Sad. I too am out and choose not to read her memoir.
I beg to differ Molly. I am of the generation of your mother. I had my children in 1968 and 1971. I wanted to be a mother. I loved and always have loved my children. I participated in their lives continuously. I volunteered to begin with twice a week, then 3 to 4. I worked on special projects for the children and school and with our community. I can continue but I don’t need to prove how one sided, wrong Molly is. And yes I knew of her mother.
I’ve heard her interviewed too many times. Not interested or interesting.
